Today was just a splendid day! Even though it was a little rainy in the afternoon, the morning, for once in never, Iceland was still...no wind! That's like a miracle around here and it was so nice not to have to worry about my scarf blowing to the side frantically or my hair going every which way. School was even more pointless because our Icelandic teacher was on a trip to Turkey (?) and the other one didn't really have anything planned. Got some good reading in though. Although I've already read them, I've decided to reread the Hunger Game series; I just love it so much. My all time favourite book, though, is The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I'm reading that one too, at home; The Hunger Games is just a light read for extra time at school. Another thing I'm kind of into is the musician Ed Sheeran. Good acoustic songs and a calming voice. He's got a touching one about his almost-baby called "Small Bump". Maybe I'll put the song on here...
But today wasn't made special because of hobbies...no, today was special because we got to have a little visit with a worker today! (My friends from school-you probably won't understand who these people are to me and my family. If you really want to know, you can email me or something. They're just people we know with a good...spirit, heart). Anyways, today a worker from Saskatchewan, Canada came through Iceland on her way home from a mission in Denmark. Her name is Sandra McDermott; Such a lovely, kind and cheerful lady. We sat for an hour or so over some coffee between her connecting flight home and it was a very, very nice visit. She thinks it's awesome that we've come and hung out in such a unique place for a while. Very glad I met her. :)
Kai also had a 'get to know you' session with some of his classmates. He probably won't tell you about it, he didn't even want to go in the first place, but secretly, he had a good time... I just know it. There's a teacher at our school from British Colombia who's lived in Iceland for several years; Forgot her name (oops!). Well the nice woman gave some money to a couple girls and boys so that they could take Kai on a nice walk around the neighborhood and go for some ice cream. The ice cream here, along with its licorice and hot dogs (the national food for Iceland), is extra-extra awesome and yummy (nomnomnom). They have tons of toppings, which is the norm, from smarties and oreos, to berries and sauces: The stuff's cheap too and supersized, for example the medium is the size of a large pop at McDonalds. Brilliant!
All for now, my family and friends,
