Yeah, I know, it's been a while; to be honest, life has been uneventful enough that I don't have anything to write about everyday: I'm quite sure that writing about my daily routine will do nothing but make you yawn. Anyways, I guess the little things that have gathered together through the past couple weeks are enough to make a new post out to my family and friends.
Grandma Massey went home two and a half weeks ago. She had an awesome time, and I am so happy that she could enjoy herself and have a relaxing, yet fun vacation. Afterwards, the house seemed empty, but life goes on here just as it will for her back at home.
Kai and I are learning a lot in our Icelandic class. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, we both go to the public school and our teachers, Vala and Lynda, teach us new things all the time. We wouldn't understand a person if they were to talk to us in Icelandic, but by now I can order pizza on the phone, tell you the time, the day, or the month, I can count up to 29, we know all the body parts/parts of the face, clothing, colours, and weather: we know a lot (it feels like) of the basics, but fully understanding is going to take some time. Also, in funner news, we went to the flea market on Sunday afternoon and as we passed by an old books stand (which was quite big), I saw an Icelandic bible! Mom and I thought it was sooo cool, we eventually bought it. The seller dude told us that he had just talked to a guy that had learned Icelandic completely by reading books. Maybe there is hope for us yet to comprehend this crazy babbling language! lol
Recently, I've taken art class along with my drama. So far it's been good, although I've only had one class, but it feels awesome to draw, and create, and make colourful images in my mind become real. Sometimes when I see another portrayal of the sky's shining, twinkling beauty, I itch for the paint back at home. I'll have to take many pictures so that I can still get the vibrancy of the sky enough to recreate. You know, some people think the most gorgeous things in the world come from the earth/nature, some from the concrete jungles of humankind, and some think animals are the greatest thing created; for me, I think God's most beautiful creation was the sky. Whether it's the sweet morning rise, a blanket of clean blue, a hot sunset, or a dark sky full of diamonds or wisps of electric aurora, it is always brilliant, and it never fails to bring me into awe.
Also, in further, more boring, news, we went to the Peace Tower on the 9th, as Mom may have already told you, and that was a very nice evening. In the drizzle too little to even notice, we watched a local band sing, listened to Yoko Ono, John Lennons wife, talk, and then stood at the foot of the tower as it lit up, singing to Imagine by John Lennon.
I'm missing my family and friends at home more each day, but Skype, Facebook and the beauty of the city help me through. The adventure is already more than half done, and soon it'll be time to pack up again for the flights and airports that will transport us to homeland. Craayzy!
I love you all, wherever you are,
