On Saturday, we went whale watching :-) I got to sit with the captain and spot whales with binoculars. Saw many Minke whales, which are around 11 tonnes. Some Iceland porpoises playing together, too. Found a friend from Germany, to hang out with on the ship. The weather was perfect, very little wind and clear sunny skies!!! :)
I tried Fencing today at the Reykjavik Fooball Stadium! It's an olympic sport; I loved it.9/13/2012 my skookum school bus that takes me to school in the morn. Yesterday, mom and I went on the bus to pick up a bike we got from a boy named Larus. It's yellow & i love it. Today, I played soccer with a coach, his name is Oskkar. It was so cold and windy but mom and I stopped at a thermal hot pool on the way home. Then went to a famous hot dog stand for a hot dog and licorice chocolate bar :-) It was so windy riding home that it stopped my bike! Yesterday, mom and I went on the bus and bought a bike from a boy named Larus who was selling it. This is me taking it home :-) it's got shocks and very cool. My teacher is soooo nice, Hilða, here with my grandma also. These are english workbooks for reading & writing (my aunty Carmen in Canada got them & sent with grandma) which I work in with that cool timer so I get many pages done. My friends do reading & writing in Icelandic language while I do it in english. My math books are in Icelandic and i have word cards on my desk in Icelandic to help me learn common Iceland words. The first week it was nice and I made three friends. Yesterday I made another friend. I'm making lots of friends at school. My Icelandic teacher is teaching me lots of Icelandic words and it's helping me a lot. Ice cream is 'ís' (pronounced ees as in EASy)and boy do love ís! Soccer is called football here and I think that's kinda funny.
A couple of my friends names are Patrekur and Gunnar; I played with both of them yesterday at a birthday party. They know a little bit of English. One of them speaks more English than the other. We still use actions more than we talk to each other. But things still work out, and we still fave fun. School and life in Iceland is great. Niall. |
